Shouldn't affect the useful life unless exposed to UV.

That is a complex question because the life of the pvc pipe depends on many factors such as chemical strength, operating pressure, operating temperature, exposure to sunlight, and maximum pressure among other parameters.

My opinion is that plastics typically will have a service life in the range of 7-10 years.

You would probably be a little better off if you used CPVC pipe instead of PVC.

The following paper has a test methodology and arrived at 8 year estimated life of PVC in hypochlorite service.

The technical periodical "Machine Design" will publish I believe an annual article on materials including Plastics. Such article will detail the pros and cons of the variety of plastics in the industrial environment. commercially available. The Machinist Handbook also has a detail section on plastics.
