Hi,

I'd like to offer more User Defined Symbols to our users, but can't fing how to have our custom file containing the new stuff (.sbf) displayed in the NX2 Utility Directory window ...

Things work fine when placing our extra .sbf file on each station in the UGII directory, but not on a server where our customisation is ...

Help appreciated.
Thanks

Either define for your site a common environment variable UGII_UTIL= 'path to location' of where your user defined symbols are, or make this same change to the varible in the ugii_env.dat file.

Thanks John !
But what if I want to define a path for user defined symbols and keep the hatch file in its original location ?
Meaning, how do I refer to 2 paths in the same time ?

Tonie,

You might be able to use custom symbols rather than user defined symbols. If the symbols do not have to be used in a line of text (annotation), then give the custom symbols a shot. There's plenty of info in the documentation on how to create a custom symbol and manage the libraries.

Thanks, Tim, but can custom symbols be attached to a drafting object like user symbols ?

What do you mean by "attached"....associating the origin, adding a leader or what? Both associative origins and adding leaders can be accomplished with Custom Symbols.

Should you not like the Custom Symbol route, I believe you can define multiple paths for certain variables by separating the paths with a ; .

For example, I have UGII_BITMAP_PATH set as UGII_BITMAP_PATH=%UGII_BITMAP_PATH%;%EKA_CUSTOM_DIR%\Bitmaps. %EKA_CUSTOM_DIR% is predefined in my .bat file which I use to launch NX.

By doing this, NX looks for all the default bitmaps in its out of the box location as well as looking in another path used for custom icons I have created. You might be able to do the same thing with your User Defined Symbol/Hatch variable.

nkwheelguy,

By 'attache' I mean 'associate'.
In the user Defined Symbol window, there's a 'Add to Drafting Object' option that I don't see in the Custom Symbols window ...

I tried the separation character in the path already, but without result !

Tonie,

The Annotation Placement toolbar does not appear until after you've picked Create With Leader or Create Without Leader to place the symbol. Once you've done that, the Annotation Placement toolbar will appear and then you can Associate to whatever is applicable.
