I know it's not advised, but for reasons beyond my personal control, I'm trying to evaluate for density material beneath a roadway without removing the asphalt and stone base in mass. The road way is open and the client is trying to get it accepted into the DOT system.
We cored the roadway and then performed Static Cone Penetrometer testing in accordance with Durham Geo Slope Indicator recommendations.
I know that this is a tool really only to be used for evaluation fine-grained soils, but we're desperate.
Does anyone know of a table, graph, paper, etc. that will correlate a SCP reading to a SPT Value in a sandy material?
Thanks for your time.
