I need help with using Com624 program that I have downloaded from FHWA web site. I am trying to assess pile behavior under 1 and 2 inch deflection once as a free head pile and once as fixed head pile. under "data for loading" submenue of the "analysis" menu there are 4 options for pile head boundry condition but you cant input deflection under the two options that indicate free head and fixed head boundry conditions. I am using AISI guide for Integral Abutment design and the example that it has(published in Structural Engineer Magazine a few months ago).
I would greatly appreciate any help and input. I know exactly what I have to do to design as soon as I can model the pile under those two conditions. Needless to say I dont have access to LPILE which I understand is a new generation of 624.
So if you are familiar with the AISI design guide and/or the program please help.
MUCH thanks

I have not used COM24, but can you just apply a horizontal force at the top of the pile, and adjust it by trial and error until you get the lateral deflection you want?

I designed an integral abutment several years ago and used the AISI document you refer to. I called the author of the paper and he told me that he used a trial and error solution by varying the loads at the top of the pile.

Thank you both, specially the second post is reasuring. Because I ended up doing just that !

thanks again,
