Hello,

I'm working on new distillation unit heat ex-changers design, at this unit, the products get cooled after getting out of the tower by
exchanging with treated water, the water will be converted into steam, which can be used in the plant,

the question is, is that will make any difference at coolers design (I thought to use floating heat shell & tube heat ex-changer, TEMA AES, class R)

thank you in advance

Better to use a kettle type configuration for vaporising service with integral vapor liquid separation - try TEMA BKU, with treated water on shellside, product rundown on tubeside. Some surface area will be dedicated for sensible heating.

TEMA S design was popular many years ago, but is prone to leaks.

Obviously this treated water has to be of boiler feed water quality in order to minimise scale deposition and corrosion. The required quality is related to the steam pressure required.

You migt get better heat recovery if we break up this heat exchange duty into 2parts, one for sensible heating and the next for vaporising, with the column product running in the reverse direction. The sensible heating HX could be a TEMA AEU or BEU.

thank you very much "georgeverghese" for cooperation & valuable data
