Using FE reference manual for PE Exam

Greetings,

Wondering if anyone can comment on how useful the FE reference book from NCEES is for the PE exam? Assuming just the morning session as you'd probably be using other materials primarily for the afternoon.

If you use your FE reference book in day to day work, it might be useful. It's my go-to reference for a few tables... shear modulus of materials, some section properties of basic shapes, some beam deflection information), so I took it along.

You probably have the important information in your FE book elsewhere in your references, but if the FE book is where you find it fast, that's what matters.

I second Lomar's comment about using FE book for section properties of shapes, etc. I think I cracked the FE ref book one time during the PE exam, but it was useful for that one time. Plus it's a really skinny book so it won't take much effort to bring it. Just make sure you know *why* you're bringing it i.e. have important pages tabbed before exam.

I used it twice during the exam only to save from digging through the refefrnce manual. In the end it didn't matter because I had plenty of extra time at the end.
