Using I joist as beam

Has anyone seen a double I joist being used as a beam/header? I have not and believe that this is not allowed by the manufacturer. I was just seeing if anybody ran into and had any guidance on it. I'm likely going to tell the contractor to remove it and replace it.

I wouldn't use it for any significant loading - especially if the beam is side loaded with a hanger. But it is done fairly often, especially around stair openings. The manufacturer should have some typical details for this. See link below for an example.

Same as Canpro, never for significant loading but see it often for stair openings.
