Using Jack Stud for Resisting Wind Loads

I'm just wondering how many of you would agree to and use jack stud for resisting wind loads acting on o/h door (in my example). Lintel is located right under the top plate. Let's say by the design I need 3 king studs to resist my wind forces and one jack stud to support lintel. Since my jack stud almost spans the full height of king studs and is fastened to them, it will contribute to wind resistance of king stud. Would many of you reduce 3 ply king stud to 2 ply in a given or similar scenario?

In your case it may be possible to use all four studs for wind bending and then only rely on three studs for the shear connection to the roof diaphragm.

The shear in the jack stud must get "out" of itself and into the king studs near its top somehow - perhaps a grouping of nails near the top?

Agree with JAE,

I assume you likely only need the additional stud for deflection and therefore I'd be comfortable with that approach.
