Using Law Curves

What is the procedure for using the law curve method for blends. I created a sketch for the law curve but not sure if it must be the exact length of the perimeter being blended. I'm not sure which items UG NX2 is asking to select. Also, what are some examples for using law curves in general as opposed to other methods?.

Thanks in advance

No you don´t have to have the same length. There are two ways of doing it, first is that you make the curve in XY direction according to your coordinate system and the second is that U use two curves where the second is the base curve used for x-reference. The x-length of the curve (or base curve) will be proportionell to perimeter length of the edge to be blended (30% in x on law is 30% on the edge perimeter).

Note that you can use a sketch as a law curve.

Using G1, G2 curves as law gets you a very smooth variable blend.

I think you have to Use Surf to Surf blend at least in V18 to get your law control variable radius. For Sketched Law curves UG will scale the x direction of the baseline curve to the length of the blend spine.

Does NX allow Edge blend to be variable and is this option availible for V18?

Yes edge blends can be variable (at least as far back as V15 - the first version I started using). Look up 'variable blend' in the modeling help files, it will explain the procedure better than I can in a simple post.
