Using membrane elements on Tetra Hedeal mesh

Thank you for your time and help. I have one more question for you,
Its about adding a surface layer of membrane elements with negligible thickness on tetra elements.
May I know the reason for reading stress results on membrane elements?.
I would appreciate your ideas.

Membrane elements are used with solids to represent thin layers such as membranes in geocell soil mechanics analyses. Another common use is for post-processing reasons - to extract plane stress state from the outer surface of the model and perform some specific operations on this data.
