Is there any way to use a period in a part name? E.g., XX-XXX-2.75.prt. We're using Creo 2.0.

Nope. Creo expects one or two periods in file names. There are a lot of characters that it won't allow in file names.

In Windchill/PDMLink, PTC includes a built-in parameter called Common Name, which can have any characters you can type, characters that the OS would not typically allow in a file name.
