Hello,
I'm trying to do some nonlinear benchmark tests with the SC8R element but I'm getting some funny solutions that don't seem to match up with how the SC8R should perform in cases of limit point buckling. I'm just wondering if anyone has lots of experience with the SC8R and can tell me if I'm making the model wrong.
I made a solid extrusion that includes the thickness of the structure and then made a shell section that also had the value for the shell thickness. When I assign the shell section to the solid extruded part, I am able to select the SC8R element for the model. Is this correct? Also, I have been careful to define the sweep direction in the thickness direction. Am I missing anything else? Has the SC8R been known to have any problems with specific boundary conditions? Thanks for any help.
