Hi All,

I might get an opportunity to work in some utility metering related work for the provinical utility. The local utility hires consulting engineers to do this kind of work. I have never done this but I have voluntered for it and am ready to learn it. It will be under the supervision of a sr. engineer.

Could you kindly advise me, where I can get some basic literature or info to understand types of metering and connection stuff.
Thanks

I think you will find that the utility will have its own way of doing things and you just need to learn what that is. The principles don't change, but metermen tend to get totally hung up on the details, such as which side of the test switch the potentials should be on, etc.

In addition to the general references already mentioned, the utility should have their own standards or guidelines. In addition, you should ask for examples of their work products so you'll know what you're expected to give them.

Type of equipment used also vary widely with areas and countries. If you indicate where you are located, it would help get better directions. In the USA most utility company have good websites, it may not be true for other parts of the world.
