I need to find a UV LED to cure uv adhesive. It's output should be around 440-490 nm. I haven't ever seen a led that emitted this wavelength with any intensity. Can someone tell me if they know of a uv led with a wavelength in the 440-490nm range. Thanks for your help.

440-490 is blue, not UV.
Do a search for 440 nM LED or Blue LED

Hi, loads of cheap leds with that wavelengh. High power UV leds are now made but they are very expensive, a quick search will find them.

The application is dental. Not the whitening app. We done that though. This is to cure the adhesive 'camphor quinone' that is used in dentures and implants. Thanks Mad bomber. Yes dspDad, you're right of course, 470nm is blue, I just wanted to omit that because this light source is marketed as being UV! Isn't that strange. Yes, my application is building a dental uv curing wand. I would like about 600mw/cm2 and have decided to try using blue led arrays to achieve this. Thanks for all your help!

Yes, the Luxeon Start is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks MacGyvers2000. Have you ever tried these? I ordered several to experiment with. I appreciate this. I knew I wanted a Gallium Nitride element; but, this one is really intense and I've had trouble obtaining these levels. Thanks everyone!

The Luxeons are about as bright as you're going to get, and in most applications that require them, the price is decent enough. I tend to work with LEDs quite a bit, and the past several years have seen more and more of the high-brightness puppies coming across my workbench. I'll turn off the lights to get a better feel for what they can do (never looking dircetly at them, mind you), but even when the room is lit I ocassionally catch a glimpse of one straight on...I see spots for several seconds afterwards.

I'll look around for some other LEDs in that wavelength range, but you certainly can't go wrong with the Luxeons...



I suppose you could get a lens coated with a UV phosphour to modify the wavelength of an LED, but it's probably not worh the bother if the LEDs themselves can output the needed range.

For UV output the Nicha thumps all over the Luxeon Dental, and thumps on it some more, where the Luxeon makes nearly nothing shorter than about 420nm with the peak at a lot longer wavelength...
