The UW-2a(3), explain how to do when a heat exchanger is designed for a lethal service but just in one side.
It says that when only one side of the heat exchanger contains a lethal substance, the other side need not to be built to the rules for a vessels in lethal service if:
a) Exchanger tubes are seamless; or
b) Exchanger tubes conform to a tube specification permitted by this Division, are butt welded without addition of filler metal, and receive in liue of full radiography all off the following nondestructive testing and examination:
............
When (b) says "butt welded", Does that mean the longitudinal weld or any welds (ex.: transversal)?
Thanks. Roger
