V-belt specifications

I've been given the charge of developing a specification for v-belts. What types of endurance and reliability tests are there for v-belts? What kinds of endurance and reliability tests do manufacturers of v-belts normally conduct? I'd like to focus the specification on functional requirements, rather than on details of belt construction, etc. Recommendations?
