Hello,

I saw some products of a company. they have CATParts and models in their assembly, but every model was inside of a product. is there some kind of trick? can anyone explain why is better like this?

example:

-Main_assy.CATProduct
-part1.CATPart
-part2.CATProduct
-part2.model
-part3.CATProduct
-part3.model
-part4.CATPart

Thank you!

It's better becuase you don't have to convert the geometry. Especially if someone at another site may still be maintaining the V4 geometry. (V4 - V5 Interoperability)

There is no trick to this. It's outlined in the documentation.

another thing is that you cannot measure anything in a model... while inside a product, you got the measuring tool in assembly design workbench

for those who does not want to manage (sub)product files but need the same behavior.... you can use COMPONENT, and then put the V4 model 'in' the component.
