V5-importing a step file with assembly structure from NX and keeping it an asm (product)

Has anyone done much of this? so far I can get an assembly, but it doesn't seem to bring along the children in the original NX file that were in other directories. just the components from the same directory as the assembly itself

I start a blank product and use insert existing component and grab the step.

any suggestions?

It was in the settings in NX. edit it to as saved.
