Is there a way to invert a view once it is created? And also is there a way to filter out particular solids from a view like we could in V4?

Thanks ahead for any input you may have.

Turtle49:

To filter or change the cross sectioning of particular solids in a view:

1. right click on the view frame and select "Overload Properties". You will get a pop-up window.

2. pick the part in the view to add it to the list in the pop-up window.

3. highlight the part in the list and select "edit".

You can change the cross-section and display properties of each part shown in the view this way.

Good Luck.

We use SCENES to define which CATPARTS are included in a view.

Does anybody know the pros and cons of Overload Properties versus Scenes? Which is a better method?

Hi,

Scenes seem better than overload properties, because it's easy to modify what you want to see in the scene/view. Talking about Large assembly. But you cannot switch scene for one view, you need to create a new view for the new scene.

Overload properties make it easier to define what is cut or not in a section. if you define that in 3D it's for all sections.

in R13 you can define SET in 3D for a view but its not associative. It's just like preselection... fine but not really great.

Scenes, like overload properties work only for assembly views.

I really miss filters on views like V4...Hope it will come soon.

Or they need to improve the selection of the overload properties (selection from a tree not from generated element in view, or both...).

Sorry for not really giving you THE solution, try those and find which suits (the best) your needs.
