Valve offer approval

Hello to all,

I am new in valve ingineering, I have just been assigned in y new job to check whether a supplier offer is faithful to the client specifications and standards approuved on by both the contractor (the compnay I am working for) and the client (API 600, API 602...) I started to read the standards but I was overwhelmed, there is so much to check for.

Is there some guidelines on how to check, or the things that are the most important, I am really lost here.

Make a Technical Bid Tab. List specification requirements: Pressure/Temperature ratings (high and low), body type, end connections, materials, operators, special features, etc… Identify if any there are requirements are different than API requirements. Understand what deviations the supplier has to all specifications. Two things I ran into on hand valves are that API compliant valves dissipate static electricity by design, if this is a requirement, and ASME is only specified, you must request that. Also, many Fire Safe seats are API compliant, but have not been tested/certified to API requirements. You may find a few other things like single piece bodies, vented cavities, special cleaning, and the like. Critical service valves typically require more attention than utility valves. Understand if the process and end user has any particular desires or experiences that impact your assessment. Well, that is a start, and good luck.

it would help if you could give us a bit more detail about the offer status: is the offer already given, and in case to what specification and certificate requirement?

You have two ways to start here: inspect, check and test each valve, or the other way, the paper track.
1. Check and get a copy of all standards and requirements to be fulfilled, note! latest issue.
2. Ask the supplier to confirm that his offer is according to this.
3. What certifications and tests are included?
4. Ask for references, and company certifications and references for supplier and producer for the type of valves offered.

.... then you start inspecting and controlling according to result.
