I have an Emerson/Alco Valve 240RA solenoid valve on a refrigeration system. It won't close. Its not dirt, I have a new filter dryer and there haven't been any conditions for burn out to create dirt. Its an existing system, I've never had this problem before. I had to replace the valve 2x and both times its not working. Pressures are okay, systems is clean. I dissasembled the valve, and the plunger looks warped.(It didn't before) Any suggestions? Has anyone ever heard of any problems with Alco recently?

Thanks in advance

Servo actuated: The magnetic field of the solenoid coil
is only utilized for the opening of the pilot valve seat.
Could thr pilot valve seat be the problem?

Thanks imok.

Mabey.

I sent the two valves back to ALCO. I replaced with a sporland valve. Just looking at the construction it looked better too, and guess what it runs fine.

When I get an answer back from their engineers I'll post it with some graphics.
