Our company ordered 900 class Trunnion ball valve with seat material SPEC AISI 410/PTFCG But the supplier confirmed the available seat material for the valve is A182 F316L + PTFCE, Appreciate more details regarding the material spec properties..
What is the difference between PTFCG and PTFCE

Dear Naichor,

AISI 410 is cast Martensitic SS having 13% Cr while ASTM A 182 F316L is forged Austenitic low C SS with Mo.

The latter is much superior than the former. However, with so little data can't say if it is required.

The second question pertains to seat material and the following could be interesting reading.

The latter is much superior than the former.
In what respect?

316 may have better corrosion resistance than 410, but it will have inferior strength, wear resistance, and it is susceptible to CSCC while 410 is not.

Dear ironic metallurgist,

W.r.t. price [bigsmile]. For the technical aspects refer to Sir Ed's post.

Dear EdStainless,

Corrosion resistance, wear resistance and CSCC are masked by stelliting. The more important consideration could be toughness rather than strength.
