Hello,
Can anyone help me quickly with some supplier contacts for rising stem valve spindle safety caps. Maybe I don't know the right terminology to search for, but I am thinking of the plastic caps that go on the spindle end of rising stem valves. The purpose is safety- to make these bump points clearly visible (typically safety orange), and minimize the impact to eyes and body parts.
best wishes,
sshep

They should be available from the valve supplier or they could direct you where to get them. If you're in Houston I can give some contacts.

I would think that the caps that OSHA now requires for exposed rebar on construction sites would work well for this. I've seen these at Home Depot and similar stores.

sshep,

McMaster Carr has them as 'polyethylene rod and bar caps',
in two styles for two sizes. Ten in package and 5+ packs to cost $4.06 / $ 7.66 each pk.(catalog 108 - expect cost increase).

part numbers 9550K11 and 9550K12. color - orange

note: polyethylene temperature limit 120 deg F. The top of valve stem should be much less than fluid's temperature, but it might be concern for smaller valves (short stem) and for hot valves in closed locations (boilerhouse).
