We currently purchase a PTFW Core hoses with double layer & chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) jacket and sch 80 Monel MNPT fittings.
A question arouse about more cost effective options that lead a vendor to offer a visit today to offer alternate solutions.

What questions do I need to ask in order to find out if this alternative hose is proper for our chlorine service. This is 100% pure liquid chlorine.

Are these hoses ever disconnected and exposed to air?
If so then you need to see testing in Cl + humid air.
Do they have long term testing?
What about minor impurities?
Honestly I wouldn't change if what you have works. What does your risk assessment tell you about how bad a single accident would be?

Ask this question to your chlorine supplier. They'll have an authoritative detailed answer. Companies that make and sell highly hazardous materials have a keen interest in making sure their customers handle these materials safely. They can send you detailed info related to safe unloading, storage, and handling.

For such a toxic service - perhaps bordering on lethal, why would you use hoses in the first place - should be all hardpipe or loading arms.. ? Also, are these fastened via couplings or flanges ?

Thank you all for your ideas.
These hoses are 100% compliant with the chlorine institute (pamphlet 6) and are needed to connect the railcars to the hard piping. The ends are always capped after connecting and disconnecting railcars to prevent moisture ingress.
I will contact our suppliers for information and referral on suggested hoses.
