Can the interstitial space in a self bunded dilute ethanol storage tank be vacuumed as means of controlling the inner shell integrity? The storage tank is not exposed to any external pool fire or any excessive heat. The vacuum is monitored by a vacuum switch to alert loss of containment. A vent nozzle (blinded in operation) will allow drying of the interstitial space in case of leakage. Obviously, the internal shell is fitted with all the nozzles per UL 142 and pressure/vacuum relief valve, including flame arrester for increased protection.
