Hi folks.
I would like to have a query why Venturi is usually used for compressor suction and discharge? What is its advantage and disadvantage?
Thank you.

Please show us the application and the PID.
Mostly there is no venturi there.
Do You mean a reducer?

I mean Venturi flow meter

Low non-recoverable pressure drop.

Good luck,
Latexman

Technically, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.

That is a Venturi Flow Meter not just a Venturi. It is one of the best and safest methods to measure and record the flow in a compressor line.

Sometimes its possible to do all the right things and still get bad results

Thanks folks for your answers.
Hi Pennpiper, Could you detail why it is one of the safest methods. Is it the safety reason? Thanks in advance.

If you check with a Venturi Flow Meter supplier I think you will find out there are no internal parts to break off and cause damage downstream.

As Latexman said venturi is used because it offer less pressure drop as compared to orifice.
