I'm thinking of upgrading from version 11 to version 14, as the price ($245) is attractive. But I'm afraid my version 11 templates won't work in version 14. When I tried to upgrade to version 12, a few years back, many of my old files crashed and needed time consuming debugging to work with version 12. In the end, I gave up and stuck with version 11. Does version 14 offer any advantages for structural engineering applications? Does it accept version 11 files without a lot of fuss?

M14 is simply an evolutionary product line that started with M12. Additionally, its symbolic engine was changed from Maple to MuPad. However, it is reputedly more robust than either 12 or 13 and substantially faster in some calculations.

Given that, I'd expect similar issues with M11 legacy files.

I've had good luck with V13, but having been burnt on 2 even numbered versions I'm waiting for V15. I didn't have any problems migrating V11 templates to V13. So maybe ...

Mathcad 12 had far greater incompatibility problems than M13 or M14.

There are differences between M11 and M14 (some significant, but probably not show stoppers for most people and workarounds are usually available). I have run M14, M13, M12 and M11 side-by-side without difficulty (I only ever run up M12 when I need to address an M12 specific issue).
