I am trying to implement a PDM-PLM (teamcenter) and a coding/numbering system within it.
We want to manage parts and drawings (documents) in this common way,
123456.001 = part (v1)
123456.002 = part (v2, not interchangeable with v1)
123456.000 = used to address all versions of part 123456
123456 = document (drawing) number
Inside drawing (title block) there will be a field for doc. revision traceability (RevA, RevB...). This revision letter will increase only in interchangeable changes (means only in document changes or minor changes in part dimensions). Sometimes you realise something wrong on drawing and you will take care of the minor mistake (tolerancing, typo, alignment, etc) only on drawing and publish it again (with rev. letter increment)
But as far as I can understand, there is no such system or working method in Teamcenter. Am I right? Is there any way to manage it in Teamcenter? To make Teamcenter increase revision letter but not change version number when needed?
