Installing a sewage pumping station, can the swing check valve be installed vertically? I'm concerned about solids getting lodged in the corner of the swing hinge, blocking the swing from opening. Does anybody have experience with this?

Seems like a perfect question for the manufacturer. Then when it fails you won't be saying, "well some guys on a forum said it would work."

For sewage, you don't want the swing check mounted vertically for the very reason you state. Instead, put the swing check on a horizontal run if you can, or possibly consider a ball check like this:
I usually use swing checks for my sewage lift stations (always mounted horizontally), but I have used a ball check twice for sewage and once for a small storm water pumping station. I heard no complaints afterwards for any of the three. The use of ball checks was suggested to me as an alternative to swing checks in tight conditions by a retired ex-coworker who had designed dozens of sewage lift stations and was a published author on the subject.
