Hi, I need to know how to create a threaded rod in Solidworks. I have designed a guide bracked in solidworks and need to represent a threaded rod (stud) that is welded to the center of the bracket. The rod needs to have 1/4-20 threads and nuts attached. I have done the tutorials and I am familiar with how to add nuts from the toolbox, but i cant figure out how to create the threaded rod. I'm sorry to ask such a basic question, but hopefully someone will be willing to help. Thank you!

Easily? use Cosmetic Threads... read SolidWorks Help Topics, that should be all you need.

If you want to model true helix-based threads, read thread559-113210 for some pointers.

Have you read faq731-376 to make the best use of Eng-Tips Forums?

You could also use a thread texture if you have SW04 or SW05.

[cheers] & all the best.
