Dear fellow engineers,

I need a flexible coupling for my mechanism. The shafts are not very big (2-3 cm in diameter). My main challenge is the ambient temperature which is up to 480 F (250 C).

Do you know any supplier who has such couplings?

the misalignment is not very high. I do not expect it to exceed 1 degree.

More details would be helpful. What are the loads and cycles for the application? A 1 deg angular misalignment can be handled using a metal diaphragm coupling.

You say " a coupling ."

There is likely to be parallel AND angular misalignment between any 2 fully supported shafts.

Single Diaphragm and disk couplings are radially very stiff, and so can only accommodate angular misalignment.
I think you will need 2 couplings with an intermediate shaft or spool piece.

You can accomodate both angular and parallel misalignment with a double Heli-call coupling.

Be warned there can be some interesting dynamics if you are using a stepping motor.

Have you considered using Oldham couplings? They are quite suitable for bore sizes in the range you specified.
