I am currently working on a low velocity impact on a stratified structure with Abaqus 6.11 / Explicit.
Sketch of the structure:
I would like to evaluate the effects of the elastomer mechanical proprieties on the metal B damage.
So far, i have done a axissymmetric model with ALE mesh control which prevent element distortion due to the high Poisson coefficient of the elastomer.
However, ALE mesh control don't update the edge seed therefore the elastomer aspect ratio is very poor under the impact zone.
View of this phenomena:
To prevent this phenomena my goal is to:
(1) -stop the calculation
(2) -update the model with output geometry
(3) -remesh the elastomer
(4) -rebuild the model (Materials, Contacts...)
(5) -remap the new mesh with the data from the last increment
(6) -restart the calculation
I have only be able achieve (1) and (2) with Python but i am unable to remesh
This as certainly been done before, can someone help me?
