Code: Asme Section VIII Div 1
Location: Offshore Platform
=============================
We have a gas-reinjection compressor outlet discharge pressure dictating the design pressure of vessels and tubular exchangers in excess of 3,000 psi limit stipulated in U-1(d).

Code highlights that deviations and additions to the requirements in the Code are usually necessary to meet requirements of design pricicples and cosntruction practises for these higher pressures.

Can someone with the experience please advise further w.r.t procedures involved in getting the vessel and exchanger tubes designed to Div I? Should the vessel be designed to ASME Section VIII Div II instead?

Thanks.

Sorry, I did a second search following my post and found a similar query in this forum with good responses.

Seems like the more conservative appraoch will be to design the vessels and excahngers to Div II requirements.

Angsi,

I understand that ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 can also be used for over 3000 psig. However, ASME Sec. VIII Div. 2 (or Div. 3) may be more economic.
