Hello world,
I'am a fresh mechanical engineer and I'm trying to re-design an existed pressure vessel just for training and get familiar with PV design. I have many questions and problems that maybe are basis for experenced one.
1- Is ir necessary to set values of Projection from Top,Projection from Botto and Projection from Bottom Ope when UG-99(b)[36] is choosen as Hydrotest Type??
2-When there is no mentionned design temperature for external pressure in datasheet or specification, What's the value that can I put it on the field design temperature for external pressure?!
3-Is it manddatory to set the values of (hyro test pressure, MAWP,MAPnc)? or just set it as 0 and let the program do calculations?

cordially

Hi,

I recommend that you use the help topics on PvElite, all of your questions are answered there. (Hint, you can select any field and press F1 and specific help topic for that field will be displayed).

1- Nozzle projections are to account for extra liquid weight where the nozzle project higher than the vessel envelope.

2- There's a field on load cases that allow to change allowable stresses based on these temps. So unless otherwise specified I'd suggest you use the same temperatures. IF there`s no external pressure applied leave both design external pressure and internal pressure as 0

3-If set to 0, it automatically calculates, if set to other value it will override it. (This is shown on the bottom note when you highlight the field)
