I am using a variable frequency drive (VFD) to control the speed of and provide a soft start for a 115VAC asynchronous motor. I want to be able to connect the VFD to a footswitch that will act strictly as an on/off control for the motor, as motor speed and soft start need not be controlled on the fly.

The VFD provides logic inputs that accept a 0-15VDC signal that can be used to provide this functionality. However, I am having great difficulty finding a suitable footswitch, as all of the ones that I am finding provide a 115VAC/120VAC output voltage.

Does anyone know of low voltage output footswitches or a way that I can use a standard footswitch to provide a 0-15VDC signal when pressed?

Most foot switches I've seen are just...switches. I.e. they will switch whatever voltage you apply to them, on and off. The voltage (and current) rating of a switch are most typically the maximum allowables.

Are you confusing the actual output voltage with the rating? Most switches just put out whatever voltage you put in, just... switched. [smile]
