The Bently system you mentioned is more likely the largest installed base and most proven method of on-line monitoring in the world - having said that, I did not say it was the best solution for your needs. My biased recommendation would be to take a look at STI's modular system that can be built to your requirements. Check out the CMCP500 series and the CMCP420VT at

I'm not familiar with the one's you mention. We use hand-held vibration monitoring for most of our large motors. CSI had a very interesting product for gross remote monitoring of vibration, motor frame temperature, and axial flux. Apparently very easy to install on the outside of the motor and uses wireless communication.

The units that electricpete mentioned are called motorstat units (CSI). They can be purchased either wireless (great for hazardous or hard to access areas) or direct connect using a 2120 analyzer. They measure temp., flux and vibration. They are excelent trending tools. CSI also offers a 16 channel ( I think they are even coming out with a 32 channel) online analyzer (4500 online). Entek and PMC/BETA also market reliable online monitoring systems just to name a few. Roy Gariepy

Suggestion: Ez-Tomas in my 4th link also can have attached accelerometers, tachometers, etc.
