I am creating some vibration test specifications for a customer and using the methodology described on I’ve been using the FEMCI “book” as a resource for my work in the aerospace industry for years, and found that many consider it in itself a credible resource. My current customer is new to space however and was not familiar with the process or FEMCI. They asked what the reference for this methodology was, and honestly I was caught a little off-guard! I realized I did not actually know other than that this page was published by a NASA branch, and that from talks with other folks in the industry they employed similar/identical methods.
Does anyone here know what standard/spec or paper this methodology is based on? Or know of other resources discussing similar methods I could verify against? I did a search through previous threads and found thread384-267104, but the only answers here were addressing the reasoning behind the methods (useful, but not "official" enough for my purposes).
