Do you have any experiences with vibrocore for offshore soft/loose deposits? We are planning to sample to 20 ft below mud line. Vibrocore is about 4 inches diameter. I was thinking that if you vibrate the loose granular soils, you will be liquefying them and cannot have good recovery. Any advise about vibrocore sampling will be appreciated. Thanks!

IMHO I don't think the vibration would cause liquefaction. The sands are likely very soft so a lot vibration/energy wouldn't be needed? It wouldn't be the same Vibration that would be generated from pile driving. What about direct push sampling methods, minimal percussion....

Thanks for the reply. I will check with the vibrocore guy but I think it cannot do a pushing method.
