Hi,

For a project in my hospital I need to use several video and KVM splitter/extenders for remote displays. Most of the products that I find are designed for Cat5e or Cat6 cables. The problem is that all the infrastructure in our new facility is Cat6A cable.
I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience in using Cat6a with Video or KVM extenders and is aware of any potential problems that I might run into. The distances that we are extending these cables are well under 300' while these extenders are rated for up to 500' (cat5e cable).
Any feedback or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Thank you John!
Cat6A does have a better performance however, that's mainly concerned with ethernet, when it comes to video signal which has a different communication protocol that can't necessarily be concluded and the latency caused by different pairs of wire could cause color disruption in the video signal (Cat6a has a higher twist ratio than cat6 which means extra length).

That's mainly why I'm interested to know if anyone has ever tested video extenders on Cat6A and experienced problems.

Protocol is irrelevant. Cat6a provides a wider bandwidth than Cat6, though I can't quote the phase difference per meter off of the top of my head...

Protocol difference was brought up by the manufacturer tech support. But as you mentioned, if the cat6a has a larger phase difference then that could be a problem?

If worse comes to worse (and that's not likely) then use a KVM extender that actually uses (UDP and/or TCP) Internet Protocol.
