all right First I put a plane normal to curve
then I viewed normal to plane
then I set compass to "lock privileged plane orientation
parallel to screen"
then projected my other vector to that new plane
popped another "normal to curve plane" on that one
then I was able to use the U vector and V vector on the
compass to flip 90 degrees for top and bottom views
