View Solidworks drawing without Part file

Just curious if it is even possible to view a drawing without having the part file. I've noticed that I can preview the drawing without the part file, but once I load the file solidworks requests the part file.

Yes, just enable the View Only check box from within SolidWorks when you open a drawing.

You can also save the drawing file by changing its filetype to "Detached". Its the same file extension but it allows you save the drawing in such a way that the drawing doesn't need the model to be opened and edited. You'll have to load the model when you want the views to update by right clicking a drawing view and selecting "Load".

This does make the file larger.
