Viewer in Teamcenter won't show parts (NX5)

We are using Teamcenter 2005 SR1 to manage both our legacy I-DEAS parts and new NX5 parts. The I-DEAS parts can be previewed in the Viewer; the NX5 parts cannot. Does anyone know why?

Have a word with you administrator as I don't know where it is but there will be a switch in Teamcenter for turning on that saving behaviour. In native it is in the customer defaults and what it does is to save a JT file whenever you save the part file. I'm pretty sure that there are extra settings in Teamcenter to accommodate this and help to work with assemblies.

However try going in to the NX file and under File>Options>Save Options turn on Save JT Data, then save your file. If the JT file turns up on your item master then maybe just changing the customer defaults is all that is required.

If you then turn it on for an assembly just manually then you'll be able to further test whether just changing the customer defaults will work.

However this takes up extra database space and sites I have worked with don't usually do it that way. Instead what they do is create the JT data only when you baseline the files in Teamcenter. That's something I don't know the settings for but which you ought ask about.
