I would like to hear opinions on what virtual memory should be set at in Windows for the best performance. I realize, you should have enough RAM available so as not to access virtual memory, but just in case I would like to know. I have heard set the lower limit at 3X RAM and the upper limit at 4X RAM. I have also heard that you should set both the upper and lower limit to the same amount (either 3X or 4X). Why the different opinions? What benefits would setting the upper and lower limits to the same amount have? I have heard that it reduces fragmentation of the page file, but thats just what I heard. Does it make any difference? Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated as inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.
