virtual memory vanishing 1

Hi i am having problems with my virtual memory ever since I loaded solidworks 2001. Large files I opened with ease on ver 2000 now hang up on me . I have 768 Ram with windows 98 and have loaded solid works service pack 2.

1) Get rid of Win 98 go to Win NT or 2000 (if possible)

I haven't switched SP yet, because I was at SP2 and I had a lot of problems. So I suggest for you to go back to SP0 and wait tell someone has some good luck with a one of there new SP.

FYI - I hope you are not tring to open the same Large assembly with SW00 that you opened in SW01. If you saved it 01 you cannot reopen it in 00.

Did you set your Virtual memory to 3-4 times your Ram?
Also, what are your hardware specs?

Thanks Scott The problem with moving to NT is that I lose control to our supposedly I.T expert?

I was trying to open the assembly on SW2001 so that was not the problem.

I will set my Virtual memory to 3-4 times my Ram and try that?

Computer: - Pentium 3 500 MHZ processor
768 ram, 9.1GB SCSI hard disk,

I forgot to mention this, your Video card may also play a part in the crash. The rule is not to use a card that connotes violence like Rage, Fury, Voodoo. If you are doing serious CAD, get a card designed for CAD. Get something like the Oxygen or Elsa cards, they rock.

Thanks Scott It is a Matrox Millennium G400 video card. I never had any problems with this card before 2001, but it might be something to think about.
