Virtual PC / R2005 / R12dos

I Would like like to find out if anyone has used
Vitual PC. or might suggest a better solution
to my problem :
I presently use Win98 with R14 and (yes) R12dos.
Will be upgrading to R2005 shortly which means XP.

I have tried to run R12dos with XP but it just
is not supported.

Microsoft has some info on parallel installations
of win98 /XP and I have read some on it.

It sounds real messy.
