I've recently purchased a viewer device similar to "Google Cardboard" but made of plastic. There are opportunities to watch 3D film, as well as playing scientific and amusing games via my LG G2. I'm wondering whether there is any VR app to visualize 3D models (that are generated in engineering 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD Plant 3D)?

There are high-end software packages that have viewers, but those are probably pretty pricey.

You could export the file from Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD Plant 3D and import into Autodesk Maya, from there bring this file into the Unity3D game engine for viewing with and Oculus Rift or in your case a VR viewer. Another option without the expense of Maya you could export the file from Inventor or Plant 3D as an .obj file and bring this file into Blender (free). This file could then be imported into the Unity3D game engine.

I have seen Unity used in the way but have not done this myself. I have the tools available, might make for a fun weekend project.
