Over and above the information provided by Siemens - is there any other TeamCenter Visualization (a.k.a. VisMockup) Forums to be found on the Internet?

I am looking for the same thing. Siemens did an online demo for us which was impressive but I am curious as to how users feel about it.

If you're working with large assemblies in particular then it has real benefits. It helps greatly to have assemblies structured in consistent and intuitive manner so that you can easily open manageable chunks. Just because the system can open a lot more data at once doesn't mean you can see things if they're blocking your view to you many still need to manage how your users navigate visually to their area of interest. The first instinct is to open the lot and navigate visually but people tend to be satisfied if you can overlay separate electrical and mechanical systems separately or work within zones. Since the structure of your assembly in NX mirrors that in VisMockup the benefit is mutual but requires some disciplined forethought.

It is also a good way to put geometry in front of engineers and other downstream users who need to quickly examine the data without changing it or perhaps being frequent and skilled users of a more expensive system. Measuring and sectioning work okay and experienced users can easily interact to mark up areas of concern or future changes. Some of the time with faceted models there is some slight inability to closely examine interfaces between freeform shapes but that would be pretty much the only area where there is some slight compromise.

Obviously you can't modify the data but as a visualisation tool or for conduction virtual reviews of large assemblies, quickly finding parts and generally working with models it is pretty good. We've used it in the past for large projects by giving the non-CAD engineers an interface to the data, and by having at least one or two licenses available to the CAD office to quickly open and search the data to discover other possible clashes in the areas adjacent to out components both as an output from teamcentre based global interference checks and in a quick and easy visual sense. Anyone working with really large and complex assemblies is likely to be less effective without it.

Best Regards

Hudson, thanks for the brief overview, but the question still reminds - Vis Forums (other than Siemens based)?

Additional Update - there may, may be a forum for VisMockup at the PLM World website, but that is yet to be verified - for those that are looking for a VisMockup Forum.
