Visualizing Machine tool alignments

Hey all,

My company has several large high precision machine tools. I’m looking for some kind of a software package that provides visualization of the machine alignment from laser positing/volumetric data.

I am envisioning something similar to the output of an FEA program, something that would exaggerate the mis-alignment to make it easy to see what needs to be adjusted.

We currently use HP and Renishaw laser alignment tools but I am looking for something that is easier for our techs to interpret than a column of arc-second readings.

are there any tools like this out there? I haven't found anything in my research so far. Thanks in advance for any input,

That would be cool, but I haven't seen that kind of accuracy claimed for laser scanners and such.

I haven't seen any either. Renishaw is the big dog from my understanding for this type of equipment. I would be curious if anyone knows of any other reputable manufacturers to check out.

Have you considered starting a SPC (statistical process control) file for the machine its self? One could use the base line after a PM of the machine itself, where the machine geometry is set, to compare. Documention would be the biggest issue and the daily warm-up/probing of a master or knowns.
