Hi,

Is it possible to adjust a Soft Starter (Benshaw model) to reduce the voltage drop when starting a motor? If so, how?

Set the current limit lower or ramp time higher?
But only if the motor will start reliably.

You probably meant the voltage dip (sag) during starting and by soft starter you probably meany a solid state reduced voltage starter. If so,it is exactly what solid state (soft) or any reduced voltage startrrs are desinged for. Motor is started at lower voltage(reduced torque) , which draws lesser starting current and produces smaller voltage dip. You can set the starting ramp as slow as you want as long as motor starts and comes to full speed satifactorily.

How low the dip you are looking for? What problems are you having during starting of the motor?

Suggestion: The starting the motor should not be set very slow, i.e. the ramp set too long, since the motor could draw more current and produce more heating then rated for and the cooling is capable of removal.
