I have observed one thing regarding insulators of LV busduct in one project. For low voltage busduct connecting transformer and switchboard, I have observed that the voltage rating of insulators is 3.3kV. Why these insulators are up-rated?

Can anybody help me? In advance, Thanks.

They often use higher rated insulators so that the bus duct doesn't become the weak link in the design. It's done to improve the reliability of the bus duct.

Dear Friends,

Still I am bit confused regarding rating of insulators. Normally, why bus duct support insulators are up-rated that switchboard insulators?

Please answer............

Thanks in anticipation

Maybe that insulator was just the size that worked?

With the little amount of information you have provided it's hard to really say why.
